What a sweet treat it was to see so many involved in our annual Christmas Cookie Caper again this year! It takes a whole church to make an event like this come together and even though some of the people change from year to year, the results remain the same - a successful fund (and fun) raiser all round!
This year's event began with singing in the kitchen and oohing and ahhing over the number of cookies that kept coming in on Friday afternoon. How nice it was to have enough baking that there were some cookies still available for people coming at noon on the day of the event as well as some for after church on Sunday for those who were unable to make it on Saturday.
Thanks to all the bakers, table setters, cookie tray assemblers, music providers, leaf blowers, money takers, supervisors keeping the trays filled up and to the tireless workers in the kitchen who kept busy all day long cleaning and organizing the trays to be put away for another year. A big thank you also to people who bought cookies!!!
This year's event saw total sales of $4196, of which $420 will go to the Sechelt Food Bank and $200 to the United Church Women's group for their pie sales, leaving us with net proceeds of $3576 toward our general fundraising goal for the year!
The St. John's Annual Christmas Cookie Caper truly is a gift to the community. The appreciation is evident in the faces of both the adults and the children who come to choose their special cookies year after year and also in those who were there for the first time. Thank you one and all.
