The syiyaya Reconciliation Movement is a joint initiative of Indigenous and non-Indigenous residents of the Sunshine Coast, who write: "We can't change what happened, but we can change how we see." The 2024 Spring Newsletter is available and can be accessed here: https://syiyayareconciliation.ca/?r3d=syiyaya-2024-spring-newsletter.

June 21st is National Indigenous Peoples Day, and there are many activities planned on the Sunshine Coast to celebrate and educate between the 21st and July 1st (see a full list on the back page of the newsletter linked above).

Please note that due to the recent loss of a respected Elder in the community, the Pole Unveiling Ceremony and all events at the Nation Hall -- the Ecko Aleck performance and the Chief Robert Joseph talk -- have been postponed until further notice.

Here at St. John's, the syiyaya Book Club meets at the Church on the fourth Tuesday of the month.  Our next meeting is scheduled for September 24th, at 2:00 pm, in the lower hall.
